Lexington County Museum's Artifact of the Week: Aug. 4-Aug. 10

This week's artifact is a 22 inch bayonet and scabbard that date from around 1915.  The bayonet is a Danish model for the Krag Jorgensen rifle possibly made by the Kongsberg Våpenfabrikk Company.  It has a "Haerens Tojhus" armory stamp on it.  This bayonet was given to us as part of a collection of weapons by Grover Corley.

See this artifact and more at the Lexington County Museum, located at 231 Fox Street in downtown Lexington. Visit www.lex-co.sc.gov/museum for more information.

Also, remember to subscribe to our newsletter at: http://www.lex-co.sc.gov/departments/DeptIQ/museum/Pages/MuseumNewsletter.aspx. Check back next week for another exciting artifact!
