Lexington County Museum's Artifact of the Week: June 23-29

The highlighted artifact for this week is a heart pine and poplar wardrobe made in the midlands (possibly Lexington County) around 1840.  The piece features pegged construction with a heavy cornice on top.  It was originally painted Spanish red but was later grained to resemble oak.  Before the museum acquired it, the wardrobe was used for storage at Harmon's Auto Garage in Lexington.  It is currently behind the front desk in the tour office at the museum.
