Lexington Medical Launches New OB/Gyn Practice

Lexington Medical Center has opened River Bluff OB/Gyn, a new physician practice that’s part of the hospital’s network of care, the hospital announced.

Dr. Bert Hutchinson will offer patients a full range of obstetric and gynecological care, combined with experience in laparoscopic surgical techniques. Dr. Hutchinson brings more than three decades of experience and expertise to women in the Midlands, according to the hospital. 

“A single physician practice allows me to provide a personalized style of patient care. I am aware of patient individual needs and can better answer their questions,” Dr. Hutchinson said. 

Dr. Hutchinson comes to River Bluff OB/Gyn and Lexington Medical Center from an OB/Gyn practice in Columbia. During his career, he has also served as Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Baptist Medical Center and as a Clinical Instructor in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. 

Dr. Hutchinson received his undergraduate degree at the United States Military Academy at West Point. He completed medical school at the Medical College of George in Augusta and an internship and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, Texas.  He is certified by the National Board of Medical Examiners and American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Hutchinson and his wife Valerie Anne have two children. 

Additonally, Dr. Hutchinson is a decorated military veteran earning honors including the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star and Meritorious Service Medal with 2 Oakleaf Clusters. 

“I enjoy knowing my patients and helping them with their medical problems and often extending care for the stresses and concerns a woman has with pregnancy, menopause, or other life changing situations,” Hutchinson said.
