Lexington One Teams Take the Plunge for Special Olympics

The students and employees from five of the district's school braved the cold water of Lake Murray earlier this month to raise money for the Special Olympics.

Students and employees from Pleasant Hill Middle, Red Bank Elementary, Saxe Gotha Elementary, White Knoll High and White Knoll Middle braved the cold waters of Lake Murray on Feb. 16 to show their support for Special Olympics South Carolina.

The teams from Pleasant Hill Middle, Red Bank Elementary and Saxe Gotha Elementary raised more than $1,000 each. White Knoll High’s team raised more than $1,100, making them the top fundraising school team at the event.

The event also featured a costume contest. The group from Red Bank Elementar won the contest for their “Reindeer on Vacation” costumes.

Combined, the teams from these Lexington One schools raised more than $4,000.
