Have you ever wanted to know the exact location of your ancestors land on a modern map? L.O.O.P which stands for LEXINGTIN and OLD ORANGEBURGH PLATS is a new project that takes some of the state's oldest land documents from the 1700s and puts a fresh and modern spin on these old docs.
Recently, LOOP assisted Hoover family descendants in lower Lexington county with locating and platting their ancestral lands from the 1700s. Even more amazing was the discovery of the precise location of the old house. All that is left standing is a majestic chimney and the old well.
There are many more projects already underway including the reconstruction of an entire settlement near Hwy 321 below Columbia and a project near Red Bank, just to name a couple.

"This is like a dream come true", said one of the descendants of John Hoover. Knowing the exact location of the land, the house and the cemetery allows descendants to get a greater sense of how their ancestors lived. Many people just want a bottle of soil from their ancestral home.
These early land grants and deeds represented more than just earth to these early immigrants. The land was freedom and opportunity in a new world!
