Update: Man Found Shot Dead at Country Club of Lexington Committed Suicide, Deputies Say

Update, 2:15 p.m.: A man who was found dead Monday morning at the Country Club of Lexington shot himself in the chest, according to the Lexington County Sheriff's Department. 

Detectives found a suicide note in the man's home saying that he was planning to kill himself, a spokesperson for the sheriff's department said. The handgun found near his body belonged to him. 

The man, who lived in a neighborhood near the golf course, had been unemployed for eight months, according to the sheriff's department. 

The man's body was found around 7:30 a.m. at the Country Club of Lexington at 1066 Barr Road, according to the sheriff's department.

The Lexington County Coroner's Office has not yet released the man's name.

Original story, 11:04 a.m.: A man was found Monday shot to death at a Lexington County country club, according to WIS. 

The man was found at the Country Club of Lexington at 1066 Barr Raod with two gunshot wounds to the upper body, according to the report. His identity has not been released. 

The Lexington County Sheriff's Department and the Lexington County Coroner's Office are investigating.
