Nikki Setzler Named New Senate Minority Leader

Longest serving State Senator gets nod from colleagues.

West Columbia's Nikki Setzler has been voted Senate Minority Leader by his colleagues. The 18 member Democratic delegation gave Setzler the nod to replace John Land (D - Clarendon), who is retiring.

Setzler, whose 36 years of service are the longest in the Senate, withstood a challenge from Republican DeeDee Vaughters to get another term in office, winning more than 60 percent of the vote last week.
