No GOP Court Fight for Shealy
State party chairman says the GOP has no plans to wage a legal battle to get Katrina Shealy on June 12 primary ballot.
The SCGOP says it does not intend to wage a legal battle to place ousted state Senate candidate Katrina Shealy back on the June 12 party primary ballot.
“We have to raise money to beat (Democratic President Barack) Obama,” SCGOP chairman Chad Connelly told The State newspaper. “It doesn’t make sense to spend money to run up against a stone wall.”
However, Connelly said the party would file a brief supporting Shealy if she should decide to wage her own legal battle, the newspaper noted.

However, because Shealy had not made a final list of certified candidates the state Supreme Court had required by May 4.
It remains unclear whether Shealy plans a legal challenge, but she has , which if successful would place her on the Nov. 6 general election ballot as an independent candidate.
