Report: Major Jobs Announcement?

Saying it could be "bigger than Boeing," state economic development officials are expected to announce today that Bridgestone Americas Inc. will announce a major expansion of its S.C. operations, The State reports.

Speculation is the announcement might be a tire plant that could bring 1,500 jobs, the paper said. 

Such an announcement would be a shot in the arm for South Carolina, which recorded one of the nation's worst unemployment rates in August at 11.1 percent.
