As the 2013-2014 school year comes to a close, upperclassmen across the nation prepare for one of the most monumental and exciting events of high school: prom. While prom is a customary event for students in traditional brick-and-mortar schools, students at South Carolina Connections Academy, a statewide virtual public school, celebrated this school’s first prom on Saturday, May 10.
Eighty-five students attended the prom, which was held at the Holiday Inn in Rock Hill, S.C. Students enjoyed dancing and taking photos with their friends, many of whom they interact with throughout the year, through LiveLesson® sessions and in-person social events. Nathan Taylor of Myrtle Beach was elected prom king, and the honor of prom queen went to Meghan D’Amico of Fort Mill.
