Tea Party Takes Aim at County Council
Party members will seek to oust incumbents in upcoming June primary.

The local Tea Party hopes to make more political inroads this election year as it mounts campaigns to overtake three seats on the Lexington County Council, The State reports.
Touting a stricter brand of conservatism and small government ideals, Tea Party candidates are going after the seats of Council members Johnny Jeffcoat, Debbie Summers, and retiring member Smokey Davis.
More Tea Party challengers may emerge this fall in local school board races, including those for Lexington 1 and Lexington-Richland 5, the paper reports.
“It’s our time to step up for our dream of America,” Steve Isom, a Tea Party member who is county GOP chairman and a Cayce city councilman, told the newspaper.
