Voice of the Voter: George Plunkett
Each week Lexington Patch will ask a local voter about what's important to them

Each Friday, leading up to the S.C. GOP presidential primary, Lexington Patch will be asking voters questions and getting opinions on the issues that are important to them.
This week we spoke with George Plunkett, 70, of Pine Ridge (see video). A New Jersey native who has lived in Lexington County for 37 years, Plunkett is an Air Force vet who served in Vietnam. Now "semi-retired," Plunkett has spent his civilian life working in finance and accounting. He now works part-time as controller for South Carolina Cars, a local dealership that sells upscale, late-model imports.
A self-described Independent who believes the person is more important than the party, Plunkett said he certainly plans to vote in the Jan. 21 primary and is leaning toward former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman as his favored candidate.
This week we asked:
What are the biggest issues facing Pine Ridge?
What are the biggest issues facing South Carolina?
What are the biggest issues facing the United States?
Meantime, would you like to be part of "Voice of the Voter?" If so, we'd love to hear from you. Just send an email to hal.millard@patch.com.
