Week In Review: GOP Debate and Lyin' A## B####

The holiday week that was the GOP race for the nomination.

Three quick takeaways from this week in the race for the GOP nomination:

1. If you're so far down in the polls you're hoping to get a bump by going on Jimmy Fallon's talk-show, don't be surprised if the drummer welcomes you with Fishbone's "Lyin' A## B####." Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann apparently was, and demanded an apology. The network and Fallon both complied.

2. Many pundits though longshot GOP candidates — former Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania and former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman — had the best performances at Tuesday's pre-Thanksgiving GOP debate on foreign policy. But it's also a longshot to think that such limited successes this late in the game is going to do much for either candidate.

3. The most newsworthy event from the debate was when former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, enjoying his new frontrunner status in the GOP, decided to break from Republican convention on immigration. By calling for "humane" treatment of those who are in the United States illegally, he set off a firestorm of criticism from the right. Moving to the middle, a territory rightly classified as Romney-ville, may jeopardize Gingrich's star status.
