Today marks a new chapter in the story of Mauldin Patch. I will be stepping aside as editor and turning over the reins of Mauldin Patch to my colleague Hal Millard. Readers will still see my byline across all of the Patch sites here in South Carolina, as Iβll be moving to Columbia to head up our teamβs political coverage.
Leaving Mauldin brings decidedly mixed emotions. While Iβm excited about the new opportunity from a career standpoint, I have come to have deep affection for Mauldin and the rest of the Upstate. Reading about our area in the national media as it appears on one 10 Best List after another has been exciting, but it comfirmed what its residents already knew: You donβt have to spend too much time here to realize how wonderful it is to live in the Upstate and in Mauldin specifically.
We and in that time I have met so many of our readers and have come to consider them friends. I think thatβs a pretty rare thing in the media business these days and itβs one of the main reasons I am so proud to work for Patch. We exist because of and for our many users.

To all the city officials and community leaders, I want to extend a very public thank you. You welcomed this northerner into your community and were almost universally available and for that I am grateful.
In the coming weeks and months, our users will notice some changes as we continue to grow and do more to serve our community.
