Annual Toy Run Roars Through the Golden Strip

Bikers from around the area on Sunday cruised from Fountain Inn to Mauldin to collect Christmas presents for needy area children this year.

Bikers from all over, including nearly every conceivable motorcyle club (including the Hells Angels) roared though the Golden Strip on Sunday to collect Christmas presents for needy children as part of the 9th Annual Golden Strip Toy Run.

The run went from Fountain Inn through Simpsonville and ultimately ended Mauldin, where the toys were collected and will be given later to Toys for Tots and Holiday Hope for distribution to local needy families, said organizers Brenda and Paul Williams, Jr.

Approximately 300 riders on 146 bikes participated this year. That number is lower than last year's total, though Brenda Williams said this years' crew came through with more toys than in 2011.
