Update: Missing Man with Alzheimers Found in NC

Update, Dec. 10, 2:00 p.m.: Charlie Powers, a Greenville County man who had been missing since Saturday has been located, accoding to reports. The NC Highway Patrol spotted Powers about noon on Monday on Interstate 26 near Hendersonville. Deputies said Powers, who suffers Alzheimers and other medical ailments, was taken to a local hospital as a precaution, the Greenville County Sheriff's Office reported.

Original story: The Greenville County Sheriff' Office is seeking the public's assistance in locating a man suffering from Alzheimers' who has been missing since Saturday afternoon.

The suspect, 77-year old Charles "Charlie" Powers, was last seen December 8, at approximately 12:10 pm at a convenience store on White Horse Road in Greenville.

Powers is described as a white male, 5 feet 9 inches, weighing 165 pounds, with brown eyes, salt and pepper hair, and "hunched" shoulders. 

Powers was last seen wearing glasses, a dark windbreaker jacket, khaki pants and black shoes. He is driving a 2007, 4-door, white Ford Focus bearing South Carolina license plate #BLV750.

Powers suffers from Alzheimers and other medical issues which require medication. It is suspected that Powers may be driving toward the Pigeon Forge, Tenn. area, or a mountain area within the region.  

The GCSO has placed Powers on the National Crime Information Center database (NCIC) so that if any law enforcement should encounter him anywhere within the United States local authorities will be notified.

If anyone has information regarding the whereabouts of Charlie Powers, they are urged to contact their local law enforcement agency or the Greenville County Sheriff's Office at 864-271-5210.
