Vehicle Diagnostics by Delphi Modernizes and Controls Your Ride

Installed Vehicle Device Connects Cars to Smartphones For Remote Access and Diagnostics

Many drivers have wished they could easily open their car doors while the keys were locked inside, decipher why the check engine light comes on, or find out how fast their teenagers have been driving the car around town. Now, Verizon makes those things possible for motorists with Vehicle Diagnostics by Delphi, which plugs into a vehicle’s OBD-II port and communicates with its owner through the Delphi Connected Car mobile app.

If a check engine light comes on, Vehicle Diagnostics by Delphi allows users to check the health of the vehicle before calling a mechanic, giving drivers preliminary information about the vehicle’s condition. Through the Delphi app, users can monitor fuel level and battery voltage right from their mobile device.

Additionally, drivers who have factory-installed keyless entry systems in their cars can use Vehicle Diagnostics by Delphi to turn a smartphone into a remote to lock or unlock the doors, find a parked vehicle quickly, pop the trunk or remote start.

Parents of teenagers will appreciate the geo-fencing function, which allows them to receive email alerts when the car travels beyond a designated mileage range or at speeds greater than 75 mph. Using GPS, Vehicle Diagnostics by Delphi tracks and logs the car’s speeds, distance and location.Β

β€œVerizon Wireless isn’t just a phone company anymore,” said Jerry Fountain, president of the Carolinas/Tennessee region for Verizon Wireless. β€œWe’re partnering with innovators like Delphi to provide cutting edge wireless technology for every aspect of the consumer’s lifestyle.”
