City Council Recap - Road Improvements Set for Mauldin

The highlight of Mauldin’s City Council meeting came at its end, when councilman Gabe Hunter made presentations to James Kennedy, Michael Reynolds and outgoing Mayor Don Godbey.

Before the presentation, approved a few key measures during a session that combined regular committee meetings with meetings of the committee of the whole.

The most notable item on the docket was a unanimously approved measure that will allow 23 roads in the city to be resurfaced. Those roads are:

• A 450’ section of Geneva Court extending from International Court to the end of the cul de sac 

• A 1028’ section of Apple Blossom Lane between Bethel Road and Balcome Boulevard.

• A 584’ section of Bluestone Court from Adams Mill Road to the end of the cul de sac.

• A 1215’ section of International Court from Old Mill Road to the end of the cul de sac.

• A 1063’ section of Drury Lane to the end of the cul de sac.

• A 628’ section of Hollibrook Court from Brooks Road to the end of the cul de sac.

• A 270’ section of Nightingale Lane from Sanderling Drive to end of the cul de sac.

• A 148’ section of Burning Bush Road from Miller Road to the end of the cul de sac.

• A 289’ section of Royal Oak Court from Royal Oak Road to the end of the cul de sac.

• A 3,403’ section of Vinehill Road to Mapleton Drive.

• A 1,585 section of Greenapple Way from Apple Blossom Lane to the end of the cul de sac.

• A 1,340 section of Old Trail Road between Lanewood Drive and Vinehill Road.

• A 910’ section of Burning Bush Road between Miller Road and Cherry Hill Road.

• A 1,019’ section of Anders Avenue.

• A 1,687 section of Bethel Way to Green Apple Way.

• A 1,012’ section of Blakely Drive between Edith Drive and Baldwin Circle. 

• A 909’ section of Dale Grove Court from Lanewood Drive and the end of the cul de sac.

• A 911’ section of Ellwood Court from Old Mill Road Court and the end of the cul de sac.

• A 1,115 section of Lanceway Drive between Old Mill Road and Libby Lane.

• A 865’ section of Paxton Street between Fairfield Drive and North Golden Strip Avenue.

• A 639’ section of Peachtree Lane between Owens Lane and Crestwood Drive.

• A 484’ section of Ranch Road.

• A 1,748 section of Apple Blossom from Balcome Boulevard to the end of the street.

Funding for the project became available through a combination of a surplus dollars and grant money. Total cost for the project is $526,573. Of that $126,573 will come from city funds with the remaining $400,000 coming from the Greenville Legislative Delegation Transportation Committee.

Also:

• The council unanimously passed a motion that would allot the City of Simpsonville 11 seats on a bus that transports inmate laborers to Mauldin who perform work with the Public Works Department. Simpsonville must approve the plan before it goes into effect.
• The council unanimously approved a request for proposal for an energy management plan. The matter was first .
• Lastly, fire chief Russell Sapp noted that the have arrived. The station should be completed before year-end.
