Fundraiser Today for Beloved Local Figure Suffering from Stroke
Chick-fil-A will donate portion of sales today to help Gordon McDonald, a Mauldin Fire Department veteran known throughout the Golden Strip, as he battles back from stroke.

Gordon McDonald is a well-known and beloved figure in the Mauldin community and throughout the Golden Strip, having served for years with the Fire Department as an EMT and deputy Fire Marshal, and giving countless hours in area schools to teach children fire safety as a lecturer and puppeteer.
After all his service, his family is now hoping the community can help McDonald in his time of need.
McDonald, while on vacation in Mexico recently, suffered a massive stroke that has severely affected the right side of his body. Failure to receive adequate care in Mexico within the required timeframe for a stroke victim, McDonald's brain injuries only intensified, rendering his chances for full recovery bleak.
To help defray medical, rehabilitative, and other costs, the local Chick-fil-A has agreed to step in, and the local community can help out as well.
Today, the Chick-Fil-A on Woodruff Road has agreed to donate 20 percent of all sales from any receipts collected between 5 and 8 p.m. to help McDonald and his family.
