Lady Mavs Win Third Straight SC Tennis Title
In a perfect end to a perfect season, Mauldin High sweeps previously undefeated Dutch Fork for the state AAAA title.
The Mauldin High girls tennis team won its third straight state AAAA title on Saturday, sweeping previously undefeated Dutch Fork in straight sets.
With the title, the Lady Mavs have now won 65 straight games — a streak that extends back to 2009.
“It feels great. It's crazy these girls have done this,” Mauldin coach Laura Gurley told the Greenville News. “I'm excited for them. All the hard work pays off.”
In singles play, No. 1 Ansley Speaks defeated Lauren Joch 6-1, 6-2; No. 2 Sydney Patton defeated Alison Walsh 6-0, 6-3; No. 3 Lexi Stewart defeated Anna Maria Gardiner 6-0, 6-1; No. 4 Jordan Paul defeated Caroline Sloop 6-4, 6-2; and No. 5 Madeline Weih defeated Carter Cowsert 6-0, 6-3.
Mauldin's No. 2 doubles team of Hayley Behal and Alex Patton defeated Shealy and Campanella, 3-6, 6-3, 11-9.
