Locals Earn College Degrees
Two Mauldin natives earn degrees in music, business management.

Alexander Abercrombie of Mauldin participated in Berklee College of Music's 2012 Commencement held recently in Boston at Boston University's Agganis Arena. Abercrombie, a keyboardist, received a Bachelor of Music in Professional Music from Berklee President Roger Brown.Β
If there was a contest, Abercrombie's graduation ceremony would likely win the award for the coolest one of the summer commencement season.
Brown presented honorary doctor of music degrees to Rock and Roll Hall of Famers the Eagles, 27-time Grammy Award winner Alison Krauss, and innovative Ethiopian musician Mulatu Astatke β all of whom later performed with students in the ceremony's closing concert.Β
Astatke, the school's first African graduate, delivered the commencement address to the graduating class and an estimated crowd of more than 4,000 guests at the Agganis Arena.
Berklee's class of 2012 included more than 900 students graduating with bachelor of music degrees or professional diplomas.Β
In another announcement, Craig Langmeyer of Mauldin was graduated from Fort Hays State University with a B.B.A. in management, the university announced.
Langmeyer is one of 476 undergraduate and 57 graduate students who completed requirements for associate, bachelor and graduate degrees in the summer 2012 term.
