Man Charged with Attempted Murder in Hotel Stabbing

A Piedmont man is behind bars and faces numerous charges after he allegedly forced his way into a local hotel and robbed an unidentified man at knifepoint.

On Jan. 3 the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office charged and arrested 28-year-old Joshua Lamar Edwards with attempted murder, kidnapping, burglary, armed robbery, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, according to arrest warrants released Friday. 

On Dec. 25, the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Economy Inn at 3905 Augusta Rd., located about five miles from Mauldin, in reference to an assault victim in room number 212, an incident report said. Deputies located a male victim in front of the room suffering from a stab wound to the face. The victim was transported to Greenville Memorial Hospital and underwent surgery for his injuries.

Edwards is currently being held in the Greenville County Detention Center without bond.
