Mauldin Native Earns Degree from Nebraska

Stephen Losey earns a bachelors degree in a unique field of study.

Stephen Mychal Losey of Mauldin was among some 800 students who received degrees from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln at commencement exercises Aug. 10 and 11.

Losey received a bachelor of science in insect science from the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources.

The graduates are from 33 states and 31 countries.

Chancellor Harvey Perlman presided at both ceremonies. Carolyn Pope Edwards, Willa Cather Professor of Psychology and a professor of Child, Youth and Family Studies at UNL, gave the address at the postgraduate ceremony on Aug. 10. Dennis Molfese, Chancellor's Professor and professor of special education and communications disorders at UNL, gave the address at the baccalaureate ceremony on Aug. 11.

According to the university's Web site, "The field of insect science encompasses the agricultural, biological, and environmental sciences related to insects and their interactions with humans and other organisms."
