The new restaurant joins the Spartanburg location which opened back in April. The chain opened its first South Carolina location inside the Dutch Square in 1970. The chain continued expanding in mall locations before opening its first stand-alone restaurant in the state in 1992 in Columbia. Chick-fil-A currently has 82 locations in South Carolina. The new Chick-fil-A on W. Butler Road is one of 88 new restaurants the chain plans to open across the country in 2014, creating more than 6,600 new jobs. Chick-fil-A continued to grow in 2013, increasing the number of new restaurants initially planned for the year and reporting record-setting annual sales of more than $5 billion, the 47th consecutive year of sales growth since the company began in 1967.
Matt Webber has been selected as the Operator/Owner of the new Chick-fil-A restaurant in Mauldin and he will continue to operate the chain’s Simpsonville restaurant. A Chick-fil-A Operator for 9 years, Webber is Greenville, S.C. native who graduated from the University of South Carolina Upstate with a degree in business administration – management. A young entrepreneur, Webber began working for the chain, squeezing lemonade, when he was 15 years-old and started his own lawn care company at the age of 14, which explains his pursuit to becoming an Operator. Webber was a recipient of the Symbol of Success Award for Chick-fil-A in 2006, 2007, and 2010. Webber, his wife, Donna, and their family look forward to serving the Mauldin community at two Chick-fil-A locations.
“Personalized customer service and freshly prepared food have been the hallmarks of Chick-fil-A since the day Truett opened his first restaurant,” said Webber. “My team members and I are committed to those same ideals as we welcome our guests to our new Mauldin restaurant and provide them with a remarkable experience.”
