Nine Died On S.C. Roads This Past Weekend
This brings the 2012 total to 500 deaths since the first of the year. Greenville County's rate is second-highest in the state.

So far in 2012, 35 people in Greenville County have died on South Carolina highways. This comes after an additional nine deaths statewide over the past weekend, according to the Department of Public Safety.
Greenville's rate is the second-highest in the state, behind Lexington County, which had 38 deaths so far this year.
Greenville's fatality numbers are consistent with where those figures were this time of year for the past four years.

The nine deaths from Aug. 17 to 19 included four motorcyclists and five vehicle occupants. One was not wearing a seatbelt.
Statewide, 500 people statewide had died on the state's roads through this past weekend, compared to 525 this time last year, the state said.
