Popular Local Skate Park Shuts Down

No Name Skate Park closure a disappointment to many area skaters.

Financial woes have forced the shutdown of No Name Skate Park, a facility on Roper Mountain Road that had been in operation for seven years and become popular with skaters in the county.

The facility's owner said dwindling business caused by a shaky economy, as well as difficulty paying the rent, resulted in the park's closure on Thursday, FOX Carolina reported.

The closure was a disappointment to many skaters.

"It's been like a home to me," Devin Sweat, a skater, told the station. "I have met like all my friends here."

With the park's shutdown, other area parks will likely benefit.

"The owners of No Name said they want to open in another location, but they're not sure just yet," the station reported. "In the meantime, many skaters said they plan to go over to the Skate Park of Greenville in Mauldin."
