Report: Upstate Native Jackson Being Treated at Mayo Clinic

Veil of secrecy that has surrounded Jesse Jackson, Jr.'s health and mental condition finally beginning to fall.

Greenville native and Illinois Congressman, Jesse Jackson, Jr., is being treated at the Mayo Clinic for depression, the hospital announced late Friday.

Jackson is undergoing an extensive inpatient evaluation for "depression and for gastrointestinal issues," the hospital said, providing the first details about his medical condition, according to a report by The Associated Press. "But the statement didn't disclose where the longtime Chicago congressman, the son of civil rights leader Jesse Jackson, had previously been staying," the AP said.
