Important news and notes for parents and students at Mauldin High.

Homecoming Football Game on 10/12 Begins at 7p.m.
Our homecoming game on October 12th has been moved from 7:30p.m. start time to 7:00p.m. start time.

Hannover Sister School Exchange Students Arrive
Welcome to our sister school students from Hannover, Germany. They arrived at Mauldin High on Thursday, October 4, and will leave on October 17. They will attend classes at MHS, and will go on field trips to Charleston and Atlanta with MHS students.

Marching Band Success
The marching band competed at Boiling Springs on Saturday, 9/29. 34 bands competed that day. The band took 3rd place overall. The color guard took 1st place overall. The percussion was 3rd overall. Our marching execution was 2nd overall. Great results against a very deep field of bands.

Clemson to Host PSAT/SAT Workshop – Saturday, 10/13
Clemson University will host a PSAT/SAT workshop on Saturday, October 13 at the University Center in Greenville from 10 a.m. to noon, and 1-3 p.m. The cost is $20, with lunch provided to those who register in advance. The workshop is designed primarily for sophomores and juniors who will take the PSAT on October 17. 

Also, a December SAT workshop will be held in Clemson. To register call Elaine Gray at 864 467-3620 or Teresa Kelley at 864 656-0676.

Fine Arts Center Recruiting Presentation for 2013-2014 – Tues, 10/23
A representative from the Fine Arts Center will be at Mauldin High School on October 23 at 2:30 p.m.. Students interested in attending the center during the 2013-2014 school year may sign-up in guidance to hear more about the programs and application process. Deadline to sign-up is October 22.

PSAT Information
Mauldin High School will administer the PSAT to all 10th graders and interested 11th graders on October 17. The PSAT is only given one time per school year. All 10th graders will automatically be scheduled to take the test free of charge. Tenth graders do not need to sign-up or pay. Eleventh graders may take the test for a fee of $14. 

College bound 11th graders are encouraged to take the PSAT in order to be considered for the National Merit Scholarship Program and to gain extra practice prior to taking the SAT in the spring.

SC Discovering Manufacturing Design Challenge
Students who wish to participate in the SC Discovering Manufacturing Design Challenge must research manufacturing Web sites, write an essay, and design a creative advertisement to address a real world problem. The first place winner will receive a $300 prize, and a $200 award will be given to the winner’s school. 

Submissions and registration forms should be given to Laurie Gallego by Monday, December. 17.
