Clemson Declamation Contest Results

Congratulations to the following MHS winners in the Clemson Declamation Contest on Saturday, October 27. They were required to recite one mandatory poem and one that they selected from a group of three. They competed against schools from SC and Georgia.

Graduation Planning Conferences for Sophomores to Begin

Beginning November 8 - 16, 10th graders will participate in small group graduation planning conferences with counselors. Career exploration, graduation, and post-secondary options will be discussed in a small group setting then individual time will be spent with each student. Parents are invited to attend. Students will receive notices on Monday, November 5 of the date and time of their conference. Parents unable to attend may schedule a conference with their child's counselor on Monday, November 19 or Tuesday, November 20. Graduation conferences for other grade levels will be announced soon.

Youth in Government Meeting – Thursday, 11/8

Youth in Government members are reminded of their mandatory meeting on Thursday, November 8 at 7:45a.m. in the auditorium.There is also a meeting for anyone interested in helping our candidates develop their campaign today, Monday, November 5 after school in Coach Greg Snoad's room.

Club International Meeting – Thursday, 11/8

There will be a Club International meeting after school on Thursday, November 8 to celebrate National French Week in Mrs. Noralee Robert’s room B139.

Fine Arts Center Visitation Day - Friday, 11/16

The Fine Arts Center will hold its annual high school visitation day on Friday, November 16 and is inviting all interested students in grades 9 - 11. Students may visit in the morning or afternoon and must complete a pre-arranged absence form. Interested students should see Dr. Chuck Childs in the guidance office for more information.

National Honor Society - Peer Tutoring Opportunities

Beginning Thursday, November 8, members of the National Honor Society will offer free morning peer tutoring sessions to interested students. Tutoring will be held every Tuesday and Thursday morning in room B302. Students interested in being tutored must sign-up for each day they wish to be helped:

1.  To be tutored on Tuesdays: a. students must sign-up in the Guidance Office by 4p.m. on the Friday before the Tuesday session; b. students will receive a pass to be allowed to the third floor for tutoring

2.  To be tutored on Thursdays: a. students must sign-up in the Guidance Office by 4p.m. on the Tuesday before the Thursday session; b. students will receive a pass to be allowed to the third floor for tutoring

Tutoring will not be held on any Tuesday or Thursday that is a day before a holiday.

Tutoring Times: 7:40 a.m. – 8:10 a.m.; 8:10 a.m. – 8:40 a.m.; 7:40 a.m. – 8:40 a.m.

Early Dismissal?

Students who have an early dismissal and return that same day must check in at the attendance office. Without checking in, you will be marked absent for the remainder of the day.
