
Congrats to Christopher Sullivan - Named Youth Conservationist Winner for SC Wildlife Federation
Christopher Sullivan is a senior at Mauldin High School planning to major in engineering in college. A number of colleges are currently trying to recruit Christopher, a standout football player for Mauldin High. For completion of his Eagle Scout requirements this past year, he led a Wildlife and Industry Together (WAIT) certification project for Hartness International in Greenville, constructing blue bird houses, wood duck houses and picnic tables near a new walking trail on Hartness property. He and fellow scouts also planted two butterfly gardens to help Hartness become a WAIT certified side with South Carolina Wildlife Federation.
MHS Academic Team Reaches Semi-Finals
Congratulations to the Academic Team which took 3rd place at the Southside Tournament. The team was led by William Cummings who scored in the top ten of all competitors as well as Eduardo Montes, Chris Long, and Bryce Miller.
The NJROTC Academic Team Places 2nd
Competing against 24 other teams, The MHS NJROTC Academic Team took 2nd overall as a team, with Shea Tanner taking first place and Will Shelton taking 4th in the individual competition.The team dominated the competition more than doubling the score of the second place teams in all except the final round when they fell to a team they had beaten soundly in the two previous meetings, but came up 5 points short in the final round.

FREE Valentine Social for Special Needs Children and Their Parents
Family Connection of SC along with Mauldin High School Teacher Cadets cordially invite all families who are raising children with special needs to a Valentine Social on Saturday, February 16 from 1-3 p.m. at the high school. Children will enjoy desserts, games, crafts and music while parents peruse the Resource Fair featuring information about services available to children with disabilities and special health care needs.

Applications Available for 2013-14 Teacher Cadet Program
If you are a rising senior with a 3.5 GPA, you are eligible to apply for the Teacher Cadet Program. This is a college course with an AP weighting designed for students who are interested in becoming a teacher. If you are interested in teaching, or if you love working with children, pick up an application from Mrs. Rachel Turner in Room B131 for more information.
Youth Leadership Greenville
The Greenville Chamber of Commerce and Greenville County Schools are calling for applications for Youth Leadership Class 8, a leadership development program geared to youth who exhibit leadership skills or potential while maintaining no lower than a C average. This program is designed to bring awareness to our young people, challenge them to become engaged citizens, and prepare them to serve in leadership positions within our community as adults. The program is open to students who will be a junior during the 2013-2014 school year (current sophomores).

The program consists of 10 meetings scheduled throughout the 2013-2014 school year. Interested students may pick up additional information and an application from Dr. Chuck Childs in the guidance department and return completed by March 1. A committee at Mauldin High will select up to 10 applicants to advance to compete at the district level.
