Siemens Announces Plans for Mauldin Plant
The German industrial giant plans to move into a 45,000 square foot facility, creating more than 30 jobs.

Siemens Industry Inc., a maker of mechanical and electrical drive equipment, plans to establish a new plant in Mauldin.
The company will be moving into a 45,000-square-foot facility, located at the Brookfield Corporate Center at 25 Brookfield Oaks Drive. The plant is expected to create more than 30 jobs, according to the Greenville Area Development Corp.
The company hopes to begin operations before the end of this year.
According to Doug Keith, President of Siemens Drive Technologies Division, the new South Carolina geared motor facility will place the company and its products manufactured in South Carolina closer to machine builders and manufacturers in the southeastern United States.
“The announcement of this plant adds to Siemens’ ability to be a single-source provider of integrated drive train solutions for industry,” Keith said in a release.

The new plant will be an assembly and manufacturing facility, part of the company’s Drives Technologies Division, Mechanical Drives Business Unit, he said.
“Siemens has been an important part of South Carolina’s business community for years and it’s exciting to see them bring a new manufacturing operation to the Palmetto State. Every one of these jobs will have an impact locally. South Carolina continues to show companies from around the world that it is the right place to do business,” said Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt in a statement.
“We’re pleased that Siemens recognizes the many advantages that the City of Mauldin and Greenville County offers their company for long-term growth and success,” said Chris Riley, chairman of the Greenville Area Development Corporation Board of Directors.
“Their decision to launch operations here is an important reaffirmation of this region’s focus on growing our advanced manufacturing capabilities for industry," Riley added. "As a technology-driven organization with global reach and blue chip customers across numerous industry sectors, Siemens is a prized addition to the Upstate business community.”
Siemens officials worked closely with several entities that were instrumental in the decision to locate in Mauldin, including the State of South Carolina, Greenville County, the City of Mauldin and Laurens Electric Cooperative.
Local Siemens officials are currently working with Greenville Technical College on workforce development and to determine necessary skill sets for various positions. Individuals interested in learning more about employment opportunities should visit the Siemens career Web site.
