Statewide Event Celebrates Children

The Cass Elias McCarter Guardian ad Litem Program is hosting a statewide event to celebrate the children in our lives. All members of the community interested in being a collective voice for children are invited to help Kickoff the “I am for the Child” Event. Local children’s groups including the Defenders for Children, Pendleton Place, Blue Tent, Happy Wheels and Fostering Great Ideas and the staff and volunteers from the Guardian ad Litem Program will host children of all ages and their families for a fun filled morning at Sunset Park on Saturday, September 20, 10am to noon.

Free activities for kids include meeting local fire fighters and police, Blood Connection, Mauldin High School JROTC Color Guard, face painting, girls’ fashion show, free books and story time and coloring activities. Learn how you can get involved in changing children’s lives by talking to local volunteers who work with children in your community. There are many different projects available to meet your time and interests, from volunteering as a Guardian ad Litem, and interning. We will observe a statewide moment of reflection at 11:00am for all children nationwide who have suffered from abuse and neglect.
