Update: SWAT Team Standoff Ends Without Incident

Update: Despite fears of a possible hostage situation earlier Thursday evening, the situation between a suspected shooting suspect and Greenville County authorities has ended peacefully.

An unidentified shooting suspect met by the GCSO SWAT team on the front porch of a home on Farrs Bridge Road was apprehended unarmed and uninjured after a standoff, the GCSO said.

Despite an earlier report by the department of possible gun play, "the Sheriff’s Office has not been able to confirm shots were fired inside the home. We have, however, confirmed that no injuries were sustained during the incident. Once contact was made with the subject he was temporarily detained until transported to the hospital for evaluation. No criminal charges will be filed regarding this incident."

Original story: The Greenville County Sheriff's Office and its SWAT team are responding to a standoff with a "barricaded suspect" at a residence on Farrs Bridge Road.

At approximately 4:48 p.m., the GCSO received a call for service at 505 Farrs Bridge Road in response to shots being fired inside the residence, the department reported. Moments later deputies arrived at the location and attempted to call the suspect out of the home.  

"Unable to get the suspect to cooperate the Sheriff's Office dispatched the SWAT team. The incident is currently being classified as a barricaded suspect and SWAT is currently on scene and attempting to negotiate a peaceful resolution. It is unknown at this time if anyone else is inside the residence with the suspect," according to the GCSO.

A police operation involving SWAT officers is currently affecting the intersection of White Horse Road and Highway 183.

The intersection is near the Greenville Tech Northwest Campus.
