In the past, the r about the abusive traffic and speeds of drivers on our street. We have become the "cut-through," the "by-pass" for hundreds of drivers who reside in the many sub-divisions on Ashmore Bridge Rd.
On two occasions the City of Mauldin has placed vehicle counters on Crestwood, the only street without speed bumps in the area, and the average numbers of vehicles that travel our street is close to 2,400 daily. This is a residential street, but Mauldin has yet to agree to do anything to curb drivers' appetites for using our street to cut through to businesses on West Butler Road, or to use it to avoid traffic on West Butler Road in the morning and afternoon rush hours.
We have asked for Mauldin Police to patrol our street for almost three years. Drivers disregard the "Stop" sign on the east end of the street and use it more as a yield sign. We have at least seven children on our street and they must be very cautious when riding bikes. We cannot even take an evening stroll because of the disregard of drivers who feel that this is the Daytona Speedway of Mauldin.

However, within the past few weeks the presence of our Mauldin Police has been there to help curb the disregards of drivers and it has started paying off. As a 62-year citizen of Mauldin and Crestwood, and as a spokesperson for many of the other residents of Crestwood, we would like to thank Mauldin's police department for jumping in to help protect our street and slow down drivers. Of course, there's a long way to go, but this is a start.
Thank you Mauldin PD for your consideration for the residents of Crestwood. Now, please see if you can get our City Council to do something more permanent to help us (i.e., possibly speed bumps, side walk, curbing, linage and signage on street, etc.).
