Recognizes Seven Columbia Residents During its Statewide Conference;Commemorates the Memory of the Emanuel Nine (carolinapanorama.com) — A Newberry native, Dr. Gloria Swindler Boutte, will be honored in Columbia with an Emanuel Nine Award for her decades of work expanding educational equity for Black children. The Alpha Phi Alpha statewide conference will also recognize other leaders in faith, safety, activism, and volunteerism while commemorating the victims of the Mother Emanuel church shooting.
