⢠Clemson University and the United Way of Pickens County continue impactful partnership (clemson.edu) ā Residents of Pickens County are seeing year-round benefits from Clemson Universityās deepening partnership with United Way of Pickens County, including free tax preparation and literacy support. Volunteers have helped file nearly 1,500 tax returns and assembled hygiene kits for residents across Pickens and neighboring counties. Locals are also encouraged to support United Wayās education and financial stability work through ongoing donations.

⢠Crews begin $8.3M resurfacing project along busy roadway, fueled by penny sales tax (wyff4.com) ā Transportation officials say inflation is sharply increasing the cost of major South Carolina road projects, including work tied to Highway 183 that affects Pickens-area drivers. While Spartanburgās $8.3 million Reidville Road resurfacing is funded by a penny sales tax, leaders note Greenville and Pickens projects through SCDOT are now projected to cost more than double original estimates.

⢠FEMA to reimburse 3 Upstate counties impacted by 2026 ice storm (foxcarolina.com) ā Pickens County is now eligible for FEMA reimbursement to help cover Januaryās ice-storm costs, including debris removal, emergency measures, and repairs to public infrastructure. Local governments and qualifying nonprofits must apply and document damages before funds are approved and distributed through the state emergency management division.
