Council meeting gets heated during discussion of deputies' pay (foxcarolina.com) — Pickens County Council has delayed a decision on raising deputies’ pay, tabling the heated budget discussion until its June 15 meeting. Residents and deputies packed the meeting to urge better funding for the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office, with Sheriff Tommy Blankenship stressing the trauma and danger his staff face daily.
