Hillcrest Girls Volleyball Team Advances to State Finals
The Rams will play Saturday to defend their 2011 state AAAA title.

The Hillcrest High girls volleyball team swept Rock Hill in straight sets Thursday night to claim the state AAAA Upper State Championship on its home court.
Hillcrest won the title 25-18, 25-6, and 25-16, the Greenville News reported.
The Rams, defending state champions, will play Lower State champ Aiken at White Knoll High School in Lexington on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. for the state title. Hillcrest beat Aiken last year in the championship game, the fourth title the Rams have won in the past seven years.
“We came in wanting to show our muscle,” Rams' coach Lynn Avant told the paper. “We haven’t done it yet in the playoffs. I didn’t think they could stop us, and they couldn’t. We had to pass to do it, and we did it tonight.”
When asked about the return trip to the finals at White Knoll, Hillcrest senior Sydney Moseley told the newspaper: “It was crazy going once, but going back again is unbelievable.”
