Obituary: Ida Green Vaughn

Vaughn, president of the Country Store at Vaughn's Feed and Seed in Simpsonville, died Saturday. Services set for Tuesday.

Ida Green Vaughn, wife of the late Lawrence James Vaughn, Jr., died at her home on Saturday, January 5, 2013. She was 86.

Born in Greenville County on April 1, 1926, she was the daughter of the late George Willis Green and Jennie Martin Vaughan Green. Mrs. Vaughn was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Mrs. Vaughn served as President of Country Store at Vaughn's Feed and Seed since 1986, was a 1947 graduate of Furman University and a communicant of Holy Cross Episcopal Church, Simpsonville.

Mrs. Vaughn is survived by two daughters, Ann Vaughn Stephens and Betsy Vaughn Lancaster and her husband Gowan of Simpsonville. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Tina Vaughn Aligheri Dover and her husband Mark of Hampton, Ga.; Kelly Stephens GordonVaughn and her husband Craig of Winchester, Mass.; Amy Stephens Burke and her husband Thomas of Simpsonville; James Lee Vaughn Boneville, Ga.; Jennifer Elaine Lancaster; Joseph Vaughn Lancaster; and Martin Lee Vaughn Jr. and his mother Elizabeth Ann Vaughn of Simpsonville; as well as six great-grandchildren, Mark Thomas Dover Jr; Lucille Nicole GordonVaughn; Bailey Ray Burke; Walker Finn GordonVaughn; Riley Jay Burke; and Jackson Owen GordonVaughn. She is also survived by two sisters in-law, Adeline Vaughn Long and Betty Vaughn Griffin and her husband Whitner.

She was predeceased by her parents; two sons, Lawrence James "Larry" Vaughn III; and Martin Lee Vaughn; two sisters, Sara Green Duke and Georgia Green Smith; two brothers in-law, Legare Morrison Duke; and Grady Dean Smith; and a sister in-law, Lynette Vaughn Barbrey.

Services will be conducted by Father Michael P. Flanagan at Holy Cross Episcopal Church on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. with visitation held at the church from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. Committal Services will be private. The family will be at her home, Betanlalee Farm, 905 Fairview Rd. following the service.
