
Irene Skelton Simpson, 92, formerly of West Georgia Road, Simpsonville, widow of Calvin E. Simpson, died Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at Magnolia Place of Greenville.
Born in Hartwell, GA, she was the daughter of the late Arch Skelton and Annie Bowen Skelton.
Mrs. Simpson was a member of Standing Springs Baptist Church.
She was survived by five daughters, Patricia White, and husband, Ron, of Marathon, IA, Susan Bates, and husband, David, of Cross Anchor, SC, Wanda Thompson, and husband, Robert, of Mauldin, SC, Elizabeth Simpson, of Atlanta, GA, and Renée Faulkenberry, and husband, Joey, of Mauldin, SC; son, Mickey Simpson, of Greer, SC; 15 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; three sisters, Agnes Chastain, Lizzie Mae Chastain, and Evelyn Clardy; and brother, Brownie Skelton.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by son, Archie T. Simpson; and five siblings.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Magnolia Place for the kind and compassionate care shown toward their mother.
Visitation will be held Saturday, January 26, 2013, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Southeast. The funeral service will be held Sunday, January 27, 2013, at 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Greenville Memorial Gardens.
