Simpsonville Meth Lab Discovery Nets Two Arrests

Situation forced modified lockdown of Hillcrest Middle School.

The Simpsonville Police Department has arrested two people in connection with a meth lab at 8 Cloverdale Ct.

Jeremy Seth Craig, 35, of 8 Cloverdale Ct., and Amy Melissa Petersen-Redding, 40, of 3457 Fork Shoals Road, were each charged on Tuesday with manufacturing methamphetamine and unlawful disposal of methamphetamine waste. Both are currently in the Greenville County Detention Center, said Simpsonville Police Lt. Kevin Threlkeld.

On Tuesday, Simpsonville and Greenville County Vice & Narcotics officers responded to 8 Cloverdale Ct. to follow up on an anonymous tip about the use and manufacture of methamphetamine at the location, a report said.

As officers approached a door to the residence, an item was observed that is consistent with the manufacture of methamphetamine. Officers knocked on the door and attempted to make contact with the resident. An individual looked out the window and then refused to open the door. A search warrant was obtained for the location and the assistance of Greenville County SWAT was requested to serve the warrant, the report said.

A Simpsonville police negotiator began talking with Jeremy Seth Craig and a short time later he and Petersen-Redding surrendered without incident.

Evidence of a methamphetamine lab was discovered in the home, including chemicals, containers, precursors, and paraphernalia consistent with methamphetamine usage and production, arrest warrants said. All hazardous materials were removed from the location and properly disposed of in accordance with state regulations.

As a precaution, nearby Hillcrest Middle School was placed on a modified lockdown for a short period of time.
