Greer opens $16M public safety training center for police, firefighters (goupstate.com) — Greer has opened a $16 million public safety training center on Hood Road, giving local police and firefighters a modern place to practice everything from firearms work to live-fire drills. Funded through bonds, taxes, and state support as part of the $100 million ForGreer project, the facility aims to improve training, reduce accidents, and ultimately save residents money over time.
   

2. Dick Brooks Honda Presents $10K Grant to Greer Nonprofit (wspa.com) — Greer Community Ministries just received a $10,000 boost from Dick Brooks Honda to support its Meals on Wheels program serving homebound and vulnerable neighbors in Greer. The grant, funded through South Carolina auto dealers, will help expand fresh meal deliveries, with even more support expected from the dealership's 29th Annual Meals on Wheels Golf Tournament in October.
   

3. Monarch butterflies return to S.C. during fall migration (wrdw.com) — Monarch butterflies are passing through Greer this fall, and the city's pollinator gardens are giving them a crucial refueling stop on their 3,000-mile migration. As the first Monarch City USA in South Carolina, Greer is part of a national effort to restore habitat, especially milkweed, so residents here directly support the species' long journey south.
   

4. The 2026 HDSA Team Hope Walk - Upstate, South Carolina takes place Sunday, October 25th at Greer City Park Pavilion (whosonthemove.com) — Greer residents can join the 2026 HDSA Team Hope Walk at Greer City Park Pavilion on Sunday, October 25, supporting families affected by Huntington's disease. Registration begins at noon, with the walk starting at 1 p.m., offering a family-friendly way to learn about HD, connect with health partners, and raise funds for research and support services.
