ā¢ Tennessee mayor helps halt federal euthanasia order for rescued bald eagle Phoenix (thecooldown.com) ā Athens Mayor Larry Eaton successfully pushed federal wildlife officials to reconsider an order to euthanize Phoenix, a bald eagle recovering at Owl Ridge Raptor Center in Athens. Veterinarian assessments and a ready permanent home helped convince the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to pause euthanasia and explore long-term captive care options, though a final decision on Phoenixās future is still pending.
