Police Investigate Mysterious Shooting in East Nashville

The victim says he was shot in leg while walking down Fourth Street, but didn't see the gunman.

EAST NASHVILLE, TN — A man on an early-morning stroll in East Nashville was shot seemingly out of nowhere.

While walking on South Fourth Street between Fatherland Street and Shelby Avenue around 2:15 Thursday morning, the man said he heard gunshots and then a few minutes later discovered he'd been shot in the leg. He was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center and his injuries are non-life-threatening.

Investigators later found gunshot damage to at least three nearby cars.

The oddly stealth shooting comes just a few days after a Smyrna man walking on Lower Broadway was shot in the shoulder with no shooter apparent and no witnesses who saw anyone with a gun.
