• Construction begins on Unaka High football field (johnsoncitypress.com) — Work is underway on a new football field at Unaka High School in Elizabethton, with construction expected to take six to eight weeks. Carter County Schools are also rebuilding Hampton High’s field and facilities after Hurricane Helene damage, following last year’s similar two‑month project at Happy Valley High.
   

• Elizabethton student earns master's degree from Freed-Hardeman (elizabethton.com) — An Elizabethton resident, Hunter Schmidt, has earned a Master of Science in school counseling from Freed-Hardeman University’s spring 2026 graduating class. The ceremony in Henderson recognized more than 200 graduates whose studies and service projects ranged from technology and research to community outreach across Tennessee and abroad.
