• Spanberger Signs Landmark Paid Family Leave into Law (thewinchestergazette.com) — Abingdon workers are included in Virginia’s new paid family and medical leave program, which will cover most employees statewide starting in 2028. Residents from Abingdon to Arlington will be able to take up to 12 weeks of partially paid leave for major life events, with benefits administered through the Virginia Employment Commission and funded to replace about 80% of typical wages.
