• Gatlinburg considers raising amusement tax (themountainpress.com) — Gatlinburg officials just advanced a plan to raise the city's amusement tax from 2% to 2.75%, which could bring in about $1.3 million more each year starting January 1, 2027. Half would continue funding tourism promotion, while the other half would support capital projects, pending a second commission vote.
   

• Arrests Sept. 22-23 (themountainpress.com) — Sevier County Jail's latest intake report includes the arrest of a 54‑year‑old Gatlinburg resident on an immigration detainer, along with several others from nearby communities on charges ranging from probation violations to aggravated assault. Everyone listed is presumed innocent, but the report offers a snapshot of recent law enforcement activity affecting Gatlinburg and the wider county.
