• BOE attorney advises against advertising for JES bids (1450wlaf.com) — Renovation work at Jacksboro Elementary School's cafeteria and gym is on hold while the Campbell County Board of Education follows its attorney's advice not to seek new bids yet. The current contractor, still under contract for the $2.49 million project, may resume work after Labor Day as both sides pursue mediation to get the long-delayed expansion back on track.
   

• End of an era and what an era it was for Sharon Ridenour (1450wlaf.com) — A long chapter in Jacksboro's education leadership is closing as Sharon Mills Ridenour attends her final Campbell County Board of Education meeting after 55 years in local schools. Colleagues honored her with a proclamation, flowers, and a trophy, while welcoming newly elected District 2 board member Chris Honeycutt, who will take her seat next month.
   

• DOS McCoy pleased with good start shares director's report (1450wlaf.com) — Campbell County's new Director of Schools, based in Jacksboro, says the first days of the new school year have gone smoothly, with enrollment already climbing to 4,788 students including Pre-K. She also highlighted a busy summer feeding program that served more than 55,000 breakfasts and nearly 58,000 lunches to local children.
