Johnson City Seeks Volunteers For Board of Building Codes

These appointments will serve a three-year term ending in January 2023.

The Johnson City Board of Commissioners will consider four appointments to the Johnson City Board of Building Codes, one in each of the four areas of expertise: electrical engineer, residential building representative, plumbing representative, mechanical/gas representative. Applicants must have five years of experience in such business in the city. These appointments will serve a three-year term ending in January 2023.

This board hears and decides appeals and variances to the Johnson City Building Code, addresses questions of code interpretation, oversees examinations of contractors to perform work in the community, and recommends code changes. This board meets on an as needed basis in the Commission Chambers, Municipal and Safety Building, 601 E. Main Street

Any citizen interested in serving must be a resident of Johnson City and may submit an application online at www.johnsoncitytn.org/boards. The deadline for applications is April 3.
