• Bulk leaf collection begins next month – Kingsport, TN (kingsporttn.gov) — Kingsport will start its annual bulk leaf collection on Monday, October 12, asking residents to pile leaves near the street without blocking drains, driveways, or including debris. Trucks will cycle through six zones repeatedly through January 15, 2027, and you can still bag leaves for pickup on your regular trash and yard waste day.
   

• KPD: Motorcyclist seriously injured in crash on West Stone Drive (wjhl.com) — A motorcyclist suffered serious injuries in a Sunday night crash on West Stone Drive near Hollis Street in Kingsport, after striking the rear of a Chevy Malibu that turned into the eastbound lanes. Kingsport police say the 81-year-old car driver was uninjured and the collision remains under investigation, highlighting a dangerous spot on a heavily traveled local roadway.
   

• Again: FIREFIGHTER STRUCK-Major Injuries, Chief Speaks Out (The Secret List) (firefighterclosecalls.com) — Four Kingsport firefighters and a Sullivan County EMT were seriously injured when a vehicle hit them while they worked a crash scene on I-26 near Exit 6. The piece also recounts a similar California incident and urges emergency crews to use strict roadway safety tactics, highlighting how dangerous highway response work is for Kingsport's first responders.
