1. Developer withdraws proposal to build townhomes in South Knoxville after tax break dispute with Knox County (wbir.com) — Plans for 80 townhomes in South Knoxville have been withdrawn after months of debate over a 20-year, 50% property tax abatement that split Knox County commissioners and drew strong neighborhood pushback. The mayor ultimately vetoed the PILOT agreement, and with the developer now stepping away, the Gov. John Sevier Highway property remains undeveloped while officials and residents await word on any future proposal.
   

2. Map: Where are Knoxville Police cameras, license plate readers located? (wate.com) — Knoxville police now operate 19 fixed license plate readers and 10 Real Time Information Center cameras around the city, all feeding into the new Public Safety Complex on Huron Street. The system integrates dashcams, body cameras, and registered private security feeds to help officers respond to incidents, while officials stress that plate readers capture vehicle data only and retain it for 30 days unless needed for investigations.
   

3. Marie B. Moates, 98, Knoxville (bbbtv12.com) — A 98-year-old Knoxville resident, Marie B. Moates, has passed away, with her graveside service limited to immediate family. Her family, including children and grandchildren in Knoxville, are asking that anyone wishing to honor her consider donations to Cross Ministries instead of flowers, reflecting her long local ties and faith-centered life.
   

4. DOJ: Knoxville man accused of making threats against ICE agents on Bluesky (wate.com) — A Knoxville man has been indicted on two federal counts for allegedly posting violent threats against ICE agents on the social platform Bluesky. He has pleaded not guilty, is being held in custody, and faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted, with a trial set for November 24, 2026.
   

5. Knoxville woman's plants killed after landscapers accidentally sprayed herbicide over her yard (wate.com) — A Knoxville homeowner's yard was severely damaged after a mosquito-spraying visit mistakenly used herbicide, killing many of her plants, bushes, and trees. After media inquiries and a second estimate, the landscaping company apologized and agreed to cover nearly $43,000 in restoration costs so she can begin replanting this fall.
